Kuhn Rikon Pressure Cooker

Kuhn Rikon Pressure CookerI decided to buy the Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker after months of exhaustive research. I knew I wanted to be able to cook healthier meals at home quickly, but the idea of buying yet another appliance that might sit in the cabinet unused was too much to take. When I started reading pressure cooker reviews about the Kuhn Rikon 3344 I knew I had found the right fit, something not too big and not too small. Something that could really make my cooking life easier, not just a gadget like the bread maker had turned out to be but rather something I would constantly use to make dinner.

Some of the features of this particular model:

  • 7 3/8 quart interior size
  • Thermal aluminum sandwich in the bottom in order to even the cooking temperature and allow for rapid heat absorption
  • Five different pressure safety systems
  • Automatic locking system to ensure proper capping of the cooker before cooking.
  • Saves energy by cooking up to 70% faster than traditional methods
  • 10 year warranty
  • Should be hand washed
  • 7 pounds
  • 16.1 inches tall.
  • Stainless steel construction, safe to use with all food types

The size was the selling point for me on the Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker. There are a number of models out there with short stubby handles, but I prefer something that I can move from stovetop to counter with just one hand. While I understand the ease of storage with smaller pots, it just didn’t seem to fit the way I like to move about the kitchen.

I also like the control you have with the Kuhn Rikon 3344. The varied pressure settings give you options for the texture at which your food comes out and you aren’t as limited. I find I like to cook chicken at a lower pressure than beef. The added benefit of all the safety systems kept me from worrying. I have small children and the idea that I could leave the room for a minute and the pressure cooker would blow was a constant concern. The Kuhn Rikon 3344 has multiple safety stops to keep anything tragic from happening.

I find the locking system on the Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker superior to other locking mechanisms. The screws and tightening features seem to always leave something to be desired, but not on this model. It clicks in easily and I have had no trouble making sure everything is secure. I also love how quiet the cooker is. I have used it late at night without having to worry about waking anyone in the house.

I was amazed at just how air tight the system is. The amount of water and energy I save is amazing. I love to cook artichokes and I can cook 2 large artichokes with just a few tablespoons of water. Not only that, they are completely done in just 15 minutes. Because of this, I have started marinating my own artichoke hearts which saves me tons of money when it comes to some of the fancier pasta recipes I like to make. I have never burned anything in the Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker because the heat is so evenly distributed. I was always worried about overcooking, but the pressure release and the recommended times have all been right on.

My only warning is be careful with lentils and beans as they do foam. It can be easy to overfill. Start small just so you see how exactly it stacks up in the Kuhn Rikon 3344. Overall, while this model can be more expensive than a lot of its alternatives, the durability and strong nature of the Kuhn Rikon 3344 make it one of the best pressure cookers for home use at the moment.

All American Pressure Cooker Canner

All American Pressure Cooker CannerUnless you have a family the size of the Duggars, the All American pressure cooker should be something you are looking into because you also like canning. The 30 quart size takes up a lot of space and you won’t need that much room very often for just cooking food, but if you do both (like I do) this is the perfect all in one machine that will save you time, money and many headaches over the years. You might have been using a Pressure cooker canner for many years, but I have never found one that truly met my canning needs until I happened upon the All American pressure cooker. This is probably due to the fact that the brand is one of, if not the best pressure cooker manufacturer in the country, for home use at the very least.

Buy the All American Pressure Cooker on Amazon and save over $156 off the original price!

Here’s a quick feature list:

  • 30 Quart size perfect for 19 pint jars or 14 quart jars
  • Hand-cast aluminum construction with a satin finish for easy cleaning
  • No gaskets due to the metal-to-metal sealing system that provides a complete steam-tight seal.
  • Steam gauge with gears and an automatic overpressure release
  • Multiple pressure settings ranging from 5-15 psi.
  • 19 inches tall with a foot of inside diameter.
  • 30 pounds
  • Made in the United States
  • Will not work with glass or flat-top stoves due to the weight

I was on a ban from buying any new kitchen appliances because my lack of cabinet space and overtaken the need for more gadgets. My husband found it annoying that I had multiple machines that could do one thing but not another so when I happened upon a pressure cooker that could actually handle the amount of canning I like to do, I won the battle. The All American pressure cooker not only made sense in order to expedite dinner on busy days but also replaced my large pot that I only used for canning. This, encouraged by the pressure cooker reviews I had showed him, my husband could support.

I was concerned about the 30 pound weight of the empty cooker and it is definitely not easy to lift when full. If you feel like you have to be able to move it from sink to stove to counter, this might not be the best pressure cooker canner for you. For me, I have developed a system that keeps me from having to lift it when it is full. With the sure seals and the easy to install lid, it really isn’t hard to do all my work right on the stove.

I feel like this pressure cooker is so well made it is something I can pass down to my daughters and maybe even to their daughters. It is rare that you find something so sturdy anymore and the kids love that I am back to making homemade jam more often. I have developed a ton of new dinner recipes as well. It is a little cumbersome to work with such a large pot when just cooking as I don’t even come close to filling it. That being said, when we had a summer barbeque, I was a hit with the huge pot of baked beans I brought.

Overall I love the All American pressure cooker. If you tend to cook in bulk or you really enjoy canning, I don’t think there is another pressure cooker/canner combination on the market that will fit the bill. I adjust the pressure to whatever I am cooking and the release valve has saved me from ruining batches of jams and vegetables. It is nice to have a back-up plan so you aren’t constantly waiting for your jars to break or be destroyed. The All American pressure cooker was the right call and worth every penny.

Fagor Pressure Cooker

Fagor Pressure CookerThe Fagor Pressure Cooker has reintroduced my family to home cooking in the sense that I had gotten so lazy about cooking at home, though I am not sure lazy is the right word. With all there is to do in a day, the thought of cooking, the time it takes and even more the time it takes to clean afterwards, cooking was the first thing to go off the list. I began to wonder what my family was really eating. With no control over their vegetable and meat consumption, I realized I needed to find a way to make home cooked meals again and Fagor Futuro made that possible. Suddenly I could do in minutes what used to take hours.

Buy the Fagor Pressure Cooker now on Amazon and get 32% off!

Features:

  • Reduces cooking time by up to 70%
  • Helps keep in vitamins and minerals as well as reduces the fat content of most meals.
  • Easy to open lid with a spring mechanism.
  • Works with all types of stoves including gas, electric, ceramic and induction
  • Dial pressure gauge to regulate the pressure that can be removed for cleaning
  • Pot is dishwasher safe
  • Weighs 9 pounds
  • Has a low profile for easy storage and fits better on most stoves

I chose the Fagor pressure cooker because of its size. 10 quarts is just right for family meals and the small side handles meant it would fit in my cabinet more easily. I was very tired of kitchen appliances that were more trouble than they were worth when it came to putting them away and cleaning. I love that the Fagor pressure cookers are maid with stainless steel as I enjoy lots of tomatoes and that just is not conducive with aluminum.

The steamer/basket of the Fagor pressure cooker was another selling point. Not only could I quickly make stews and meats but I had a fast and easy way to steam vegetables that helped lock in all the nutrients. You don’t think about it often, but it is so easy to cook veggies to a point where they have no nutritional value.

Having never worked with a pressure cooker before, I was worried about how to choose the pressure, set the pressure and most of all the potential of blowing my cooker up. (For the same reason it was also difficult to know which the best pressure cooker would be since I had never owned one.) The Fagor Futuro comes with an easy to use dial and a safety release that lets steam and pressure out should it get to be too much. The easy clip handle also means you never start cooking without knowing the lid is securely on.

I chose this model because it was simple, the Fagor pressure cooker seemed to be the best pressure cooker for my needs. I am not into canning and most of the other, larger models on the market are aimed at being able to do both. While I like the idea of combining uses of household appliances, I don’t believe I am ever going to be the person who gets into canning, so it was more important to find something that worked on the cooking end really well. The cookbook that comes with the Fagor pressure cooker got me started. From there I have branched out, but it was perfect to pull the cooker out of the box and already have a list of meals I could make without having to go any further. I tend to prep my meals the night before so that I can throw them in the cooker when I get home. Dinner is ready in no time and I usually only have one dish to clean. The kids handle throwing the table dishes in the dishwasher and instant clean kitchen before bed!

Presto Pressure Cooker

Presto Pressure CookerThis Presto Pressure Cooker has become one of the most used appliances in my kitchen. Other than the coffee pot, I cannot think of anything I use more regularly. Basically I cook meals in it and on the weekends I use it to can various things. This has been great for preparing things my family can eat when I am not home. I was surprised by how easy the Presto 1755 was to understand and use as I have never been a canner before. I can’t say whether this is the best pressure cooker in existence as it’s my first, however for around 70 dollars as I got it with very few if any problems, it has been a little steal!

Buy the Presto Pressure Cooker on Amazon and get 35% off the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

Take a look at all the features of the Presto 1755:

  • Good for canning vegetables, meats, seafood and poultry.
  • Dial gauge that is easy to read and allows you to choose a range of processing pressures.
  • Includes an instruction and recipe book for beginning canners and chefs.
  • Canning rack and cooking base for the interior of the appliance.
  • Holds 12 half-pint jars, 10 pint jars or 7 quart jars.
  • Weights 10.4 pounds unfilled.
  • 14.8 inches by 11.9 inches tall.
  • 12 year limited warranty

I must admit when I first started looking into Presto pressure cookers I found it odd that all the pressure cooker reviews talked about canning as well. I guess I never saw myself starting that kind of side project and I was interested in a product that had a safe steam valve and easy to follow instructions when it came to cooking. As a busy professional, I was tired of wasting money ordering out and not knowing what was in the food I was serving. I began reading about pressure cookers and how you could make an entire, healthy meal in just a matter of minutes with no oil or butter.

I started small, making mostly chicken dishes in my Presto pressure cooker and it worked flawlessly. A few times I let the pressure build up too high and the safety release valve did exactly what it was supposed to. I never again feared what would happen “if.” As I became more comfortable with the steaming process I started wondering about the canning possibilities. I started simply with jams and next thing I knew I was actually canning meats and vegetables. I could control the salt content and leave something the kids could easily use if I wasn’t home.

I do worry about the kids getting into the Presto pressure cooker so I put it on the very top shelf. The steam and the pressure can be dangerous and I don’t want the kids getting burnt. While the clips are easy to use, if you are not careful when you remove the lid you would be surprised how quickly you can burn yourself or others standing nearby. I always turn on my hood fan prior to removing the lid to help avoid hurting myself or others.

I appreciate how light these Presto pressure cookers are. I looked at many other brands and couldn’t imagine constantly lifting that much weight, especially when you add the weight of what is inside as well. I am not a particularly strong person so I don’t think I could handle something more heavy duty. That being said, the Presto pressure cooker is so sturdy, I don’t think I would ever need anything more thick and weighty. It handles perfectly, works for all my cooking needs and even allows me to make homemade spaghetti sauce without having to wait all day. I believe this was the right machine for me and my family and the food has been yummy from day one.

Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker

Stainless Steel Pressure CookerI have been a little late to the pressure cooker party but I purchased the Presto Stainless steel pressure cooker to try out the healthy way of cooking. I never imagined it could change my life as much as it has. The expedited way you can cook with a pressure cooker means even with a crazy busy schedule you can cook a homemade meal. Not only that, but also the pressure and steam trap in all the nutrients and vitamins in the food for a healthier overall meal. The disadvantage of this route is that unless you take the time to consider dozens upon dozens of often small and uninformative pressure cooker reviews, you won’t get the best pressure cooker for your needs and this can often lead to breakage of the can.

Buy the stainless steel pressure cooker by Presto on Amazon today and save 46% off the list price of the cooker.

Features of the Presto 8 Quart Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker:

  • Cooks many times faster than other ways of cooking.
  • This pressure cooker helps you to save time, money and energy due to the speed of cooking.
  • Stainless steel with tri-clad base for more even heating.
  • Steam and quick pressure release system.
  • Comes with a cooking rack and an instruction and recipe book.
  • 10 ¾ inches by 9 1/3 inches
  • Comes with a 12 year limited warranty
  • Product is 10 pounds
  • Flip pressure regulator

When looking into stainless steel pressure cookers I was mostly concerned with actual pressure cooking, but I did find out you could do canning as well. This made the idea of a stainless steel pressure cooker even more appealing. At first I only worked with figuring out recipes and how quickly I could cook things. Chicken recipes that used to take 20 minutes or now take only 8 minutes or less. I can prep items before going to work and then toss them in the Presto stainless steel pressure cooker and have dinner on the table in practically no time at all.

I was a little disappointed with the fact you cannot change the pressure on this cooker, it only works at 15 pounds of pressure. I didn’t realize there would be times when I wanted to cook at a lower pressure. While I have been able to work with this setting, I do think the cooker would be more useful if I could make the change. I’m slightly annoyed with myself also as I did check many pressure cooker reviews before I chose this the Presto 8 Quart pressure cooker, but I simply assumed that you would be able to change the pressures with a volume knob.

Canning wise, I have never done it before and I started with my stainless steel pressure cooker. I have made all kinds of things, even pickles! Now that I have gotten better at canning, I wish I had a larger pot to work with. Ultimately, I have decided this was the perfect “starter” pressure cooker for me, but that I may need some more advanced settings. That being said, I believe I will keep this stainless steel pressure cooker as well so that I can use it when I don’t need a large pot. I think this size is perfect for meals for my family and would hate to have to use the larger pot all the time.

I do enjoy how lightweight this pot is. I have begun looking for a more advanced model and I am shocked by how heavy they are even when empty. I am a strong woman so I don’t think it will be a problem for me, but I can see where a full pressure cooker might be too much for many people. Another main consideration when moving forward is finding another stainless steel pressure cooker. I love that I can work with tomatoes, making fantastic sauce quickly without having to worry about the metal and the acidity being a problem. If you are looking for a place to begin your pressure cooking adventure, this is the perfect pot for you. If you are looking for something smaller and lightweight, easy to use, this may well be the best pressure cooker for you as well.

All American Pressure Canner

All American Pressure CannerWhen looking for a the best pressure cooker and canner, I found the right fit with the All American Pressure Canner. Not only was the size perfect, not too big, not too small, I was amazed by how many cans I could fit in the inside. I often find that such appliances are really only good for one or the other: canning or pressure cooking, but this really can be used for both. The heavy weight of the All American Canner leaves me feeling secure when I fill it with jars as my biggest fear is always cracking or breaking the delicate glass. I picked the All American 921 after extended research of pressure cooker reviews from a large variety of sources, and my extra work paid off as I was left with a canner that actually stands firm even under high pressure and extensive use.

Buy the All American Pressure Canner on Amazon now and get $162.01 off the list price!

Features of the All American Pressure Canner:

  • 7 quart jars or 19 pint jars can be held
  • All American Canner made of aluminum
  • Metal to metal sealing system creates a steam tight seal without the use of gaskets or other pieces that can break.
  • Steam gauge with automatic overpressure release.
  • 21 ½ quart sized pressure cooker
  • Pressure release can be set at 5, 10 or 15 psi
  • 15 3/8 inches tall with a 12 ¼ inch inside diameter
  • Made in the United States

One of the big drawbacks to the All American Pressure Canner aside from the size was the fact it was made without gaskets. I have dealt with blowouts before and the mess that ensues. When you put something in the All American Canner you know that the pressure is set properly and that you have the ultimate control. The gauge makes operation practically idiot proof, something I have not found with other systems. It can be so easy to make a mistake and canning is truly a dangerous kitchen activity.

The clips and screw downs were intimidating at first, but it didn’t take me long to figure out exactly how to secure everything on the pot. I was very happy with how tightly everything sealed and I was thrilled with the idea of never being one of those people in search of the right sized gasket. The heavy weight design of the All American Pressure Canner is meant to stand the test of time. I have owned mine for over two years and still use it regularly. I see no need to be searching for a new one any time soon.

Heavy weight might make the process safer, but I can say it is a tough thing to lift. The canner itself is 20 pounds and when you add jars and food it is very heavy. I have found it is much easier to fill it right on the stove so I do not have to try and carry it from sink to stove. Also, the canner is quite tall, so you need to make sure the dimensions of your stove can handle such a tall pan. You can always adjust your hood placement, just know you might have trouble getting jars in when the pot is already placed on the range.

The All American Pressure Canner has made my canning life much easier. The few drawbacks are something you deal with when buying any type of kitchen appliance. If it is made to last it is usually heavy, but what you save over time is well worth the extra arm strength. This is definitely not a canner meant to be used by the elderly, but as long as you have the proper help you should be able to get the pot exactly where you need it to can all types of fruits and vegetables.
